Unearthing the Truth

Unearthing the Truth is the second half of the small resistance questline in Athens. Led by Sokrates, this mission revolves around stopping the attack on Mytilene through the people’s vote, instead of resorting to violence. Follow the steps below to successfully complete the mission.

Step 1: Return to Perikles’s Residence

• Return to Perikles’s Residence and speak to Sokrates. He will explain his plan to prevent the attack on Mytilene by obtaining evidence of corruption.

Step 2: Investigate the Propylea

• Make your way to the Propylea in Greater Athens, near the Statue of Athena. Take note that this area is restricted, so be cautious of guards. Search for the following clues inside:

  – A note on the table at the entrance
  – Dirt on the ground near the door leading outside in the main room
  – A shovel propped up against the separator close to the door

Step 3: Locate the Locked Chest

• Head out into the garden through the door. Turn left at the trellises and search for a recently dug-up chest. Unfortunately, it is locked, but the key can be found with a man named Phaelos.

Step 4: Eliminate Phaelos and Retrieve the Key

• Phaelos can be found standing in front of the Parthenon. Climb up the walls of the Propylea and onto the roof of the Akropolis Sanctuary. Stay above the guards and silently approach Phaelos. Execute a sneak attack from behind and loot him for the key if necessary.

Step 5: Open the Chest and Gather the Evidence

• Return to the Propylea’s garden and unlock the chest using the key obtained from Phaelos. Inside, you will find the clear evidence of corruption.

Step 6: Meet Sokrates at the Pnyx

• Join Sokrates at the Pnyx and participate in the speech to present the evidence to the crowd. To ensure success, adopt an ignorant demeanor and choose the following dialogue options:

  – Of course I’m not!
  – People with expertise know better.
  – I’d find someone new.

Step 7: Conclude the Mission

• Once the evidence is presented to the crowd, a short conversation with Sokrates will follow. After this conversation, the mission will conclude.
